Uconda Dunn
Tarboro native Uconda Dunn has been an Existing Iindustry Specialist with Commerce's 12-county Charlotte region for five years. She works with businesses from a variety of industries, from small machining companies to large energy companies. Her most recent project was the expansion of XPO Logistics , which announced plans in March 2013 to add 287 jobs in Charlotte by the end of 2014.
In 2009, Dunn supervised the State of North Carolina's Charlotte Layoff Aversion Plan, a pilot program which provided outreach to small-to-mid-sized businesses to help them avoid layoffs and closure. In December 2010, Uconda was a member of the business development team that made the state's first mission trip to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This maiden trip was the first step to creating business opportunities and partnerships in South America.
Speaking of her work with existing companies, Uconda says "No matter the size of a company, each job retained and created is not only important to the county or state, it is important to a family. I develop relationship across the region to better serve the interest of everyone in our state."
In her free time, Dunn and her husband, Mark, enjoy golf, trying Charlotte's many new restaurants, church activities and Carolina football.
